Courier Service
The collections and dispatches of our gowns are carried out by DPD and can be booked for a day between Monday and Wednesday. We cannot guarantee a time slot on the day of collection/dispatch, however, DPD will alert you of a 1-hour slot on the morning of collection/dispatch. The pick-up or delivery of your dress will normally be between 9am and 5pm.
PLEASE NOTE: This timeslot is dependent on the availability of your local depot and cannot be amended by either The Dress Cleaning Company nor DPD themselves. We recommend that a representative is present at the address throughout the day until collection or receipt of the dress - packaged orders CANNOT be left in a Safe Place. The Dress Cleaning Company is not responsible for any damage or loss occurring from failure to follow these instructions.
International Shipping
We currently offer our wedding dress cleaning service throughout the UK and Northern Ireland.
If you are based outside the UK, we are currently developing our international shipping service. We hope to be able to offer wedding dress cleaning to our international customers in the future, once we are confident we can provide the same secure, reliable, and high standard of service that our UK customers receive.
For any Republic of Ireland enquiries, please note the below information. For customers based in the ROI, all shipments to and from The Dress Cleaning Company are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Customers are responsible for:
- Arranging suitable courier services for the shipment of their wedding dress to and from our premises.
- Ensuring the shipment is adequately insured for the full replacement value of the dress whilst in transit.
- Completing any required customs documentation and providing accurate information where requested by the courier.
- Paying any customs duties, import taxes, VAT, clearance fees or other charges imposed by customs authorities or the courier in either the country of origin or destination.
The Dress Cleaning Company accepts no liability for loss, damage, delay, customs charges or additional costs incurred while the dress is in transit to or from our premises. Our insurance cover applies only from the point at which the dress has been received, checked into our premises and accepted into our care, and ends once the dress has been collected by or released to the customer's nominated courier for return transit.
Turnaround & Timescales
Dresses
We work to a timescale of 8 weeks as we like to ensure your dresses are put through the most gentle process to prevent any disturbance to the fabric, lace and embellishments.
This timescale may also change due to peak bridal season however this is unlikely.
Kilts
We work to a timescale of 8 weeks currently as kilts need to be treated and handled with care due to the fabrics when aligning pleats.
This timescale may change due to peak bridal season however this is unlikely.
Storage Fees
Once your garment has been cleaned, we will email After Images to you for approval, at which time you will be asked to re-confirm your delivery address.
We will then arrange for DPD to deliver to you within seven days. If you are unable to take delivery within that timescale, storage fees apply.
Packaging Your Dress For Collection
Upon placing your order with us, we shall send you a postage pack. Please ensure that you read all documents enclosed in the pack and follow our 'Guide To Sending Your Dress' closely.
The transportation of your dress will be in a heavy-duty mailing sack that we provide for you within the postage pack. We have carefully selected the items for you to send your gown to us so please be assured that it is robust and full proof. Should you want to put your packaged dress inside a cardboard box ahead of collection, please feel free to do so.
You will also be provided with a DPD Barcode label that the driver shall scan before taking your dress to their van.
Insurance in Transit
All dresses that we work on are insured whilst in-store with us as well as when in transit both to and from our shop for the full monetary value.
