A GUIDE TO OUR PROCESS

At The Dress Cleaning Company, we know how important your garment is to you.

Check out our step-by-step guide below to get familiar with our process – don’t worry, it’s in safe hands.

Step 1 – Place Your Order

Select your cleaning package and any additional accessories.

Use the notes section to share helpful details about your dress or any specific box personalisation you’d like for your chosen package. Once your order is placed, we’ll post your packing kit within five working days.

Step 2 - Package Up & We'll Collect

Follow the instructions, label your bag, and email us to book a Monday or Tuesday collection slot via our premium DPD courier service.

We hold our collections through DPD every Monday and Tuesday – we're unable to select a specific timeslot, but you’ll be assigned an hour-long slot on the day of collection.

Step 3 - Arrival & Diagnostics

Once your garment arrives, we’ll notify you and perform our full diagnostic check. If there is any work required on your garment outwith minor repairs, we'll supply you with photographs and a quote to carry out the work.

We'll also carry out specialised testing for fragile, silk, or vintage fabrics before work begins.

Step 4 - Cleaning and Pressing

Our experts clean your garment in stages tailored to its specific fabric needs.

We then professionally press your garment by hand to remove creases, working to return your cherished garment to its former glory.

Step 5 - After Images and Review

After pressing, we’ll share professional mannequin photos of your finished garment and complete quality checks. If we find we cannot remove any area of staining, we'll notify you and provide you with images.

We’ll also propose a dispatch date, which you must approve to ensure you are home and ready to receive your delivery safely.

Step 6- Secure Dispatch

We’ll book your return via DPD’s "By 12" premium service for next-day delivery.

You’ll be able to receive tracking updates throughout the journey until your garment is back in your hands, beautifully cleaned and ready to be treasured.

We see gowns of every size and style coming through our doors, and we know that the accessories you have on your big day are just as important as your dress.

As a professional wedding dress cleaning specialist, we offer a comprehensive service that also cleans your accessories, like your veil, sleeves, and overskirt. We use specialist methods to ensure even the most delicate materials like silk, lace, and beaded embroidery are handled with expert care.

Clean Your Veil

Add on a veil of any length to be cleaned and packed with your dress.

Your veil can have any trim, length, or secure fastening like a veil comb or headband. Our specialist wedding dress cleaners treat every veil with the same precision as the gown itself.

NOTE: If you’d like your veil packed into a separate box outwith your dress, please order a VEIL ONLY Clean & Box package.

Clean your Detachable Sleeves or Neck Scarf

Add on any detachable sleeves or a neck scarf of any length to be cleaned and packed with your dress.

Your sleeves can be any style, from straps to full-length sleeves. Whether they are made of silk, satin, or chiffon, we provide the specialist cleaning needed to maintain the fabric's integrity.

Clean Your Underskirt

Add on an underskirt (which is not part of your dress) to be cleaned and packed with your dress.

Your underskirt can be of any size and can include a hoop. As part of our professional service, we ensure it is as clean as the gown itself.

Clean Your Bolero, Cape, Wings

Add on an additional bolero, cape or set of wings to be cleaned and packed with your dress.

Any jacket, from a long-sleeved jacket to a shrug or cape, can be added to your order. We specialise in restoration and cleaning for designer and bespoke bridal wear, ensuring these intricate outer layers are perfectly preserved. Detachable wings can also be included in this option.

Clean Your Detachable Train or Bow and Tails

Add on a detachable train or bow and tails to be cleaned and packed with your dress.

A detachable train clips or buttons onto the back of the gown and gives you that long, dramatic aisle moment. Because these often touch the floor, they require the specialist cleaning and stain removal we are known for.

A bow and tails (as a collective item) that attaches to the back of the dress also falls within this add-on option.

Clean Your Detachable Overskirt

Add on a detachable overskirt of any length to be cleaned and packed with your dress.

A detachable overskirt refers to a full skirt layer worn over the dress - often turning a fitted dress into a ballgown or A-line dress. These layers add significant volume and often feature delicate lace or sequins.

Our wedding dress cleaning service ensures these voluminous layers are cleaned thoroughly and packed safely to prevent yellowing or damage.
